The parcel had gone unmanaged long enough that Brazilian pepper had taken over the entire back half. The owner's builder needed a staked, drainable building envelope, and the owner wanted the mature oaks along the front kept — which made this a selective clearing job, not a bulldozer job.

Before any equipment moved, the well head and the existing septic drain field were located and flagged. Running loaded trucks over a drain field is one of the most expensive avoidable mistakes on a rural site, and the flagging determined every haul route on the property.

The eleven preserved oaks were ribboned and protected at the drip line. Everything else — invasive growth, palmetto, scrub and the old fence line — was cleared and the root mass grubbed out across the building envelope so the pad would not settle later.

The pole barn came down the same mobilization. Metal roofing and structural steel were separated for scrap, and the concrete pad was broken out and hauled. The site finished rough graded and shaped to drain toward the existing swale.
